Despite just signing him to a contract this offseason, the Atlanta Falcons have cut wide receiver DJ Chark, who is now one of the several free agents available. According to several reports, the Falcons are already moving on from Chark since he hasn’t been able to prove he can be a consistent offensive weapon, recording just one catch for 11 yards. Given that the Falcons have a ton of depth at the wide receiver position for quarterback Michael Penix Jr., between Drake London, Darnell Mooney and Ray-Ray McCloud, there wasn’t any realistic path for Chark to get any attention. Originally selected in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft, the former LSU product spent most of his time as a journeyman since beginning his journey in Jacksonville for three seasons.
Chark hasn’t been able to stay on one team for more than a year, which is concerning about his status in the league. The wide receiver was hoping to carve out a role in Los Angeles last year as a Charger, since the team didn’t have a ton of weapons, but after an injury, he wasn’t able to make an impact as a potential WR3 at least. It’s hard to imagine where he goes from here, so teams might only reach out if they need a depth fill. Here are four teams that may give him a one-year contract minimum deal.

Breaking: Falcons Cut 3,100-Yard Weapon DJ Chark – 4 Possible Destinations
Potential Fits
Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens have three phenomenal receivers in DeAndre Hopkins, Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman, but the team has been struggling to develop talent. Between DeVontez Walker and Tylan Wallace, the Ravens could do better in this area. They don’t need the best receiver on the market, but someone like Chark, who has been a journeyman, to fill the hole in the unit. Lamar Jackson has a strong arm and could bring out something in Chark that no one has seen before.
Kansas City Chiefs
The same can be said about quarterback Patrick Mahomes. An example of that is former wide receiver Justin Watson, who left for the Houston Texans this offseason. Now, the team is at risk of losing Rashee Rice for a couple of games due to an impending suspension. While it’s not the end of the world for this offense, the Chiefs should roll the dice on an offensive playmaker to be a temporary fill. Chark will never start over JuJu Smith-Schuster in that depth chart, but it gives Mahomes an extra body to throw to in the aerial attack.
Washington Commanders
Meanwhile, the Washington Commanders are still at a standstill in contract negotiations with star receiver Terry McLaurin. Between Deebo Samuel, Luke McCaffrey and Michael Gallup, the Commanders could use one more wideout to strengthen this roster. They don’t need the best of the best, but someone who is going to help Noah Brown get open in the slot.
Dallas Cowboys
The same can be said about the Dallas Cowboys, but they luckily have two receivers on lock between CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens. However, Jonathan Mingo is still waiting on results, but could miss some time this season. Chark doesn’t need to be the best man out there, but fill in until Mingo returns.
