Breaking: NFL Insider Predicts “Insane” Trade Idea – Could it Happen?

August 13, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

As the regular season is around the corner, one NFL insider made a suggestion on a trade idea that involves quarterback Kyler Murray. According to Bleacher Report, they predict the Cardinals will move on and trade Murray by 2027 if the team hasn’t been able to improve. However, the pieces of the puzzle are finally coming together after drafting one of the best wide receiver prospects last year in Marvin Harrison Jr. and re-signing Trey McBride, who had a breakout season. It wouldn’t make sense for the Cardinals to move on, but there is at least one reason it might happen either way, and that’s probably due to inconsistency issues.

Originally selected in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft, the former Oklahoma product led the team to a 6-4 record before dropping all of their last five games last season, which raises concerns about whether or not he’s reliable. Murray looked like a real MVP during the 2024 campaign, but he couldn’t finish strong the rest of the season and missed the playoffs for the third straight year. If the Cardinals make the playoffs this upcoming campaign, Murray’s job is likely safe, but if they endure another similar losing season, they could decide on his future. Luckily, the quarterback has all of the offensive weapons in the world, but if he isn’t living up to expectations, then expect a trade soon.

Breaking: NFL Insider Predicts “Insane” Kyler Murray Trade Idea – 4 Possible Suitors

Potential Next Teams

New Orleans Saints

Tyler Shough showed a couple of flashes during his first preseason matchup, but he’s still battling for the starting role against Spencer Rattler. The New Orleans Saints might be better off giving Rattler starting duties since he took over for a couple of games while Derek Carr was nursing an injury last year. General Manager Mickey Loomis will likely refuse to rebuild, and if he continues to do that, then he may pursue a trade for Kyler Murray if he becomes available. Murray has a lot in the tank and won’t single-handedly take this team to a Super Bowl, but he might be the answer if Rattler and Shough can’t step up.

This trade would be a long shot either way. If the Cardinals are going to trade their quarterback, they will likely eye an AFC team. Murray is clearly the better signal-caller than Shough and Rattler due to experience.

Carolina Panthers

Just like the Saints, there is no way the Cardinals are sending Murray to Carolina unless they receive an offer they can’t turn down. There is a lot of faith and confidence in quarterback Bryce Young despite benching him earlier last season being because he has plenty of offensive pass-catchers to throw to. This doesn’t mean his job is necessarily safe, as it will be worse for Young if he can’t live up to the moment, especially when you have one of the best unproven wideouts out on the field.

Pittsburgh Steelers

Aaron Rodgers will likely retire after this 2025 campaign if the rumors and what he says are true. After going through Russell Wilson and Justin Fields for one season, the Steelers should finally settle down to find their long-term signal-caller. Murray could fit into this offense and be used in the right situation under head coach Mike Tomlin’s wing.

Baltimore Ravens

However, Murray will never start for the Baltimore Ravens. Back-to-back MVP Lamar Jackson has one of the greatest arms and is an athletic freak, so those characteristics could give Murray some time to learn from him for at least two seasons if a trade happens. Cooper Rush performed poorly in his first preseason game, and if he doesn’t exceed expectations, many should expect the Ravens to find another reliable backup for Jackson.
