Cardinals Regime Change Could Lead To Massive Trade

December 29, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr was supposed to be a generational prospect, but the team could trade him after two disappointing seasons. As the first non-quarterback selected in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Cardinals believed they were getting an elite, game-changing pass catcher that could raise the floor of this offense like Ja’Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson did for their respective teams.

Instead, Harrison has been remarkably unremarkable, and the Cardinals will probably fire head coach Jonathan Gannon and move on from quarterback Kyler Murray. With a new regime ready to rebuild the franchise in its own image, nobody should be too surprised if the team tries to trade Marvin Harrison Jr to an organization that still believes in his potential.

Cardinals New Regime Could Trade Marvin Harrison Jr

Nobody will surrender a top-five pick for Harrison at this stage in his career, but a change of scenery could bring out the best in the veteran pass-catcher. After all, the Cardinals aren’t exactly the model of success, and a different coaching staff may unlock the talent that made him a top-five pick in the first place. In no particular order, look for the following three teams to be heavily involved in Marvin Harrison trade talks.

3. Baltimore Ravens

Nobody loves buying low on high-end talent more than the Baltimore Ravens. While their playoff hopes are still alive thanks to the Cleveland Browns, the 2025 season shows they’ll need to make some serious changes between now and the start of the 2026 season. Zay Flowers is a good wide receiver, but someone must step up as a competent WR2.

Marvin Harrison Jr could be that player, and he’s a logical trade target for the Ravens. Assuming Lamar Jackson remains with the franchise (it would be incredibly foolish to move on from an MVP-caliber quarterback), this team should return to Super Bowl contention next year, and adding a reliable weapon like Harrison should only improve the passing attack.

2. Philadelphia Eagles

Speaking of teams that love buying low on big names, the Philadelphia Eagles will almost certainly make a call about a potential Marvin Harrison Jr trade, especially given the uncertainty surrounding A.J. Brown. Reports indicate the Eagles will entertain trade offers in the offseason, which means they’ll be in the market for another receiver opposite DeVonta Smith. If these reports are to be believed, it could lead to a Brown for Harrison swap.

A.J. Brown is the better wide receiver, but he’s older and more expensive than Harrison. This means the two players should have similar trade value, so a swap could make sense. Arizona’s new regime will want a proven veteran to help develop whoever is under center next year, while the Eagles will want someone with upside to add to this passing attack.

1. New York Jets

The New York Jets are embracing yet another rebuild, and while it appears Aaron Glenn will have the opportunity to construct this team in his image, there’s a lot of work to be done. The biggest issue is figuring out the quarterback position, but whoever is under center next year will need more help to succeed. Garrett Wilson is a good wide receiver when healthy, but New York’s next quarterback will need more than one reliable weapon.

A Marvin Harrison Jr trade might be the best course of action for a young, rebuilding team. While he isn’t as safe an option as a proven veteran like Brown, he’s still very young and could be a long-term star if he pans out. Combining Wilson and Harrison will give the Jets next quarterback two reliable weapons, which is crucial for player development.
