Discussion: How many sacks will Odafe Oweh have in 2025?

As he enters a contract year, how many sacks do you predict for Baltimore Ravens OLB Odafe Oweh

Frequently, Baltimore Ravens players hit their developmental peak in their contract year. Most recently, defensive end Nnamdi Madubuike in 2023, going from 8.5 career sacks and 16 quarterback hits in three seasons to 13 sacks and 33 quarterback hits in 2023. And with each impact play, his price-tag rose, resulting in a four-year, $98 million deal with $48.5 million guaranteed.

Now, outside linebacker Odafe Oweh has his opportunity to do the same.

So today’s Question of the Day is:

How many sacks will Odafe Oweh have in 2025?

My answer: 12-14 sacks

First, lets go through Oweh’s history and production.

2021: 5.0
2022: 3.0
2023: 5.0
2024: 10.0

Oweh saw his development reach new heights last season, reaching career bests in sacks (10.0), tackles for loss (9) and quarterback hits (23). His physical traits and gifts combined with better technique proved fruitful. It’s hard to imagine he’s reached his plateau.

The competition will be another factor.

Quarterbacks on the Ravens’ Schedule

1. Josh Allen
2. Joe Flacco (or K. Pickett, D. Gabriel, S. Sanders)
3. Jared Goff
4. Patrick Mahomes
5. C.J. Stroud
6. Matthew Stafford
7. Caleb Williams
8. Tua Tagovailoa
9. J.J. McCarthy (?)
10. Browns again
11. Justin Fields (or Tyrod Taylor, Brady Cook)
12. Joe Burrow
13. Mason Rudolph? (Aaron Rodgers?)
14. J. Burrow
15. Drake Maye
16. Jordan Love
17. Steelers again

There’s some opportunity here with young quarterbacks and those without impressive mobility, but some of the NFL’s best are who Oweh will face. Chasing down and finishing sacks against Allen, Mahomes, Stroud and Burrow is a test. But a couple burst games against the non-elite signal callers could help his case.

In his career, Oweh’s had just two games of >1 sack. Both came last season as he notched 2.5 sacks against both the Las Vegas Raiders and Pittsburgh Steelers (unrelated: the Ravens lost both games).

Becoming a greater threat will be required of Oweh. Part of that will be the secondary stepping up to help generate easier coverage sacks. Other parts will undoubtedly him beating the blocker in front of him and proving himself. But in my eyes, everything is trending toward Oweh finding a dozen sacks in 2025.
