Harbaugh fires back at White House question
There is nothing more divisive than politics — especially in recent times — so it should come as no surprise that Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh’s recent trip to the White House to visit with President Donald Trump sparked discussion online.
Following the first day of training camp, Harbaugh was asked about his visit considering his position as a prominent representative of Baltimore and Trump’s previous denigrating remarks about the city.
“How you framed that question … I would have framed the question like, ‘You’ve got a chance to go visit with the President. What was that experience like?’ It was amazing,” Harbaugh said. “It was awesome, and I promise you, I root for our President. I want our President to be successful just like I want my quarterback to be successful, and I want my team to be successful. And it was an amazing experience.”
In 2019, during his first presidential term, Trump tweeted that Baltimore is a “disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess.”

When asked about the then-upcoming 2016 election in which Trump was running against Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, Harbaugh planted his flag in Trump’s corner.
“I’m going Trump here,” Harbaugh said. “Build the wall. If you don’t have a border, you don’t have a country. You’re not a country without a border, right? At the same time, you’ve got 12 [million] to 15 million hardworking people here. Give them a shot. Give them a chance to become a citizen, so they’re paying taxes. All of us know that it’s not that complicated, but this side doesn’t want to solve it. Neither does [the other] side. Neither one of them want to solve the problem. Solve the problem.”
