Justin Houston takes the field for first time in Ravens uniform

August 7, 2021 by Ravens Wire Leave a Comment

The Baltimore Ravens inked edge rusher Justin Houston to a one-year contract worth up to $4 million dollars. The move adds plenty of pass rush to an edge positional group that was relatively young and inexperienced before Houston’s arrival outside of Pernell McPhee.

After signing his contract, Houston had to sit out a few days due to the NFL’s COVID entry protocols. However, on Friday the veteran made his long awaited Baltimore practice debut, showing off his new No. 48.

Something noteworthy about Houston’s first day of Ravens practice is the fact that he didn’t go through the entire practice. However, head coach John Harbaugh said that was all according to plan.

As Houston stacks practices together and becomes more familiar with Baltimore’s defensive scheme, he should begin to feel more and more comfortable leading up to Week 1. He will be asked to play a big role in putting pressure on quarterbacks and forcing turnovers, and with 97.5 career sacks to his name through 10 NFL seasons, he’s certainly proven that he could be a big contributor for the Ravens in 2021
