The Baltimore Ravens announced that offensive line coach Joe D’Alessandris will be away from the team due to a medical issue.
Per Wednesday’s statement, D’Alessandris was hospitalized last weekend with an acute illness that “will require ongoing treatment for an extended period of time.” The NFL community sent well wishes to the decorated coach, who’s worked on John Harbaugh’s staff since 2017.
“Sending all the positive vibes to Coach Joe D,” Ravens writer Cole Jackson said. “Not only is he an immensely talented OL coach but he’s an incredible human.
Get well soon coach!”
“Joe D is one of the single kindest people you’ll meet in the entire NFL. Here’s to a speedy recovery,” ESPN’s Field Yates wrote.
“A speedy and complete recovery to Coach D’Alessandris,” a fan said.
“Prayers for Joe D,” Ravens digital host Cassie Cherigo said. “He is the absolute best.”

D’Alessandris spent 30 years as a college offensive line coach before joining the Kansas City Chiefs in 2008. He’s since worked for the Buffalo Bills and San Diego Chargers before joining Baltimore.
Head coach Jim Harbaugh said George Warhop, a veteran offensive line coach who worked with the Houston Texans in 2022, will join the staff.
“Coach D’Alessandris is widely respected and cherished in our organization,” Harbaugh said. “As he focuses on his health, we offer him unwavering support.”
