Ravens DL Calais Campbell says Week 10 loss to Dolphins falls under '24-hour rule'

November 13, 2021 by Ravens Wire

The Baltimore Ravens lost in Week 10 to the Miami Dolphins by the final score of 22-10. It was a disappointing effort in multiple facets for Baltimore, especially on the offensive side of the ball, where they couldn’t get much of anything going whatsoever. However, on defense the team gave up some big plays in key moments that also contributed to the loss.

After the game, Ravens defensive lineman Calais Campbell talked about the sequence late in the contest where Miami was able to score their first touchdown of the game with just over two minutes left. He said that it hurt and that they had confidence that they were going to get a stop, but also said that the game falls under the “24-hour rule”.

“Yeah, I mean, that one hurts. [We had] all the confidence in the world that we’re going to get a stop there, and they made a play. I mean, that’s football. You know, it happens, but, you know, you try to eliminate it as much as possible. I mean, I don’t even know what happened. I’ve got to watch the tape. But I just know that, you know, that’s the play – we make that play, I feel like we win the game. So, it’s … There were plays out there for us to make, we just didn’t make them. But, you know, it is what it is. It’s definitely – it stings a little bit. But, you know, like anything else, it’s a 24-hour rule. We’re studying the tape, looking forward. [We’ve] got to get a win [at Chicago] next week.”

While it can be easy to dwell on a crushing loss, Campbell is seemingly making sure that he moves on quickly and begins to study the tape as to what went well and what didn’t. Whenever a defense allows just one offensive touchdown all game, that is usually enough for a team to win. However, even with that fact being true Baltimore lost, so they have some looking in the mirror to do. Campbell is ready to get better, which is the right mentality to have after a defeat.
