The Baltimore Ravens pulled off an improbable come-from-behind win in Week 5 against the Indianapolis Colts. Early on, Baltimore looked like they had no answer for the Colts’ offense and were in jeopardy of losing their second game of the year. However if there’s one thing we’ve learned this season, when quarterback Lamar Jackson is behind center taking snaps incredible things are bound to happen.
Jackson rallied the Ravens to a victory and did so in historic fashion. Not only did Jackson post a single-game franchise record of 442 passing yards, he also became the first player in NFL history with 1,500 passing yards and 300 rushing yards in the same five-game span.
In NFL history …
7️⃣5️⃣6️⃣ players have rushed for over 300 yards in a 5-game span
9️⃣4️⃣players have thrown for over 1,500 yards in a 5-game span
Only 1️⃣ player has done both in the same 5-game span

Jackson’s ability to throw the ball has been critiqued by analysts since before the former league-MVP entered the NFL. Through the first five games this season, Jackson has passed for 1,519 yards, averaging 303.8 yards and notching eight passing touchdowns with just three interceptions. For someone who is criticized for passing the ball, the fourth-year man seems to have a grasp on moving the chains with his arm.

One thing most people do know about Jackson is what he can do with his legs. Jackson broke Michael Vick’s record for most rushing yards by a quarterback in a single-season in 2019 and has continued to dominate on the ground. Through the first five games this season, Jackson has rushed for 341 yards, averaging 68.2 yards and finding the end zone twice. He is always a threat to make defenders look silly when he gets in open space.
Jackson is the epitome of a perfect dual-threat quarterback, and his continuous ability to make NFL history shows it. However, despite proving that he can play quarterback professionally at a high level, he will unfortunately still have his doubters.
