Ravens sign veteran RB Le’Veon Bell to the practice squad

The free agent finds a home back in the AFC North

The Ravens have signed free agent running back Le’Veon Bell to their practice squad, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Bell will likely be signed to the Ravens 53-man roster soon after. This news comes after it was reported yesterday that Bell practiced with the Ravens, alongside fellow veteran Devonta Freeman.

With running backs J.K Dobbins and Justice Hill both injured, Bell will likely accompany Gus Edwards and Ty’Son Williams as the third and final running back on the roster.

Bell is a familiar face in the AFC North, having played his first five years for the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he had his best statistical years with multiple Pro Bowl and All-Pro nominations.

Bell’s past few years have been less admiral, however, as he sat out 2018 due to contract negotiations with Steelers, before eventually signing a four-year contract with the New York Jets in 2019. Bell was released by the Jets two years later and finally signed with the Kansas City Chiefs, where he played only 12 games.

Bell now finds himself on his third roster in four years, and as the clock winds on the veteran’s career, his performance in Baltimore this season will likely affect the future of his career. Baltimore is the best-run scheme Bell has been in since he left Pittsburgh, so a change in his recent efficiency could be on the horizon.
