Ravens trading guard Ben Bredeson to Giants in deal that involves pick swap

September 1, 2021 by Ravens Wire Leave a Comment

The Baltimore Ravens have been a part of a number of different trades over the past few days, getting value for players who wouldn’t have made their final roster. They traded rookie cornerback Shaun Wade to the New England Patriots for draft capital as well as trading veteran offensive lineman Greg Mancz to the Miami Dolphins in a deal that involved a pick swap.

Despite making those two moves, Baltimore isn’t done wheeling and dealing. It was reported by Adam Schefter of ESPN that the Ravens have made another trade, sending second-year guard Ben Bredeson to the New York Giants in a deal that involves a pick swap.

Bredeson was a fourth-round selection in the 2019 draft out of the University of Michigan. Many were high on his potential and ability to be a versatile chess piece on the offensive line, as he’s spent time at center, guard and tackle throughout training camps and the preseason.

Baltimore has had multiple players competing for interior spots on the offensive line, including Bredeson, Trystan Colon, and Patrick Mekari. The Bredeson trade bodes well for both Colon and Mekari to be on the Ravens’ final roster.

Baltimore continues to acquire capital for players who are not in their plans. Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta is seemingly exploring all avenues before cutting a player for nothing, and every time he can get something back for a guy who isn’t going to be on the team, it’s a good move and an absolute win.
