MVP discussions begin and end with Lamar Jackson

After a Lamar Jackson fumble felt like an insurmountable error, the Ravens’ franchise quarterback led his team to victory with surgical precision. In the end, the Ravens stormed the field victorious after Jackson completed his fourth touchdown pass of the night, with a final score of 31-25 (OT).

MVP: Lamar Jackson

Not only is Jackson the MVP of this game, he is now a clear-cut candidate for this years’ League MVP. Jackson carved up the Indianapolis Colts defense by going 37-for-43 passing (86%) for 442 yards and four touchdowns. He also added another 62 yards rushing and truly could not be stopped. It took a little while to get rolling, but his performance tonight was among the best in history.

Winners

Mark Andrews — His eight-game touchdown drought came to an end tonight and it couldn’t be timed more perfectly. Andrews became an unstoppable target for Jackson. He hauled in 11 catches for 147 yards, two touchdowns and two two-point conversions. Jackson and Andrews’ connection was on display tonight in full force.

Marquise “Hollywood” Brown — The Primetime Jet once again showed out under the lights with nine receptions for 125 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winning catch. He helped begin the comeback with a 43-yard touchdown and closed it out in epic fashion.

Calais Campbell — Though the defensive performance by the Ravens was poor, there’s nothing like a big-time play in the clutch to erase mistakes. A blocked field goal by the biggest man on the football field helped to keep points off the board for the Colts and keep the Ravens within reach. They did so and the results speak for themselves.

Devin Duvernay — A solid four catches for 45 yards and zero mistakes on special teams. Great game out of the Ravens’ depth receiver.

Odafe Oweh — The rookie outside linebacker once again came up with a clutch play by forcing a fumble on a strip sack, his third sack of the season in only five games. His sack was the third-fastest in the NFL this season and his speed is unrivaled by players at his position.

Tavon Young — His play tonight was incredible. A well-timed sack and excellent in coverage. He even had an open-field tackle which stopped a big run from a Colts running back, something the defense struggled to do all game/season long.

Losers*

*This title is indicating the player had a poor game. It happens. No NFL player or team is perfect and to not mention the struggles would be wrong.

Anthony Averett — He entered tonight with the lowest QBR allowed among cornerbacks. This will not be the case after he allowed a plethora of completions. It was a rough night and hopefully he bounces back strong.

Patrick Queen — Missed tackles and overall a poor performance. He’s not a rookie anymore and he’s still looking a step behind and looks like he’s still trying to learn and make decisions, rather than executing swiftly.

Tavon Young — He can be on both lists. He was the victim of a dirty cheapshot by Colts tight end Jack Doyle and got caught up in the emotions. I don’t blame him for it but he knows better and admitted to it on Twitter. It’s unfortunate the refs only flagged him for the exchange.

Tackling — Same issue, different week. Ravens defense needs to solve this severe issue.

Ty’Son Williams — Was active this game after being healthy scratched last week and found little to no running room only gained six yards on four carries.

Latavius Murray — Couldn’t find the open lane and when he did, Jackson kept the ball on the option and fumbled it away. Also had a drop when Jackson threw him a ball back across the field.
