Top Buffalo Bills free agent cornerback Rasul Douglas is still on the market, but he should sign a contract soon with a new team. According to Bleacher Report, they believe the cornerback could sign soon, but his stats from his 2024 campaign are probably what are stopping most teams from pursuing him. Originally selected in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft, the former West Virginia product was able to re-establish himself as a reliable cornerback in the league from 2021-2023, but he has been declining ever since last year. NFL teams are no stranger to his abilities, but they are probably waiting until the right moment before the regular season to see if he can fit into their roster.
However, the source believes Douglas could have a “bounce back” season this upcoming campaign if a team that needs a cornerback may give him a shot. The cornerback is getting up there in age, but that doesn’t mean he is entirely ineffective. Douglas won’t earn a long-term contract with his next team since he needs to prove that he can change things around, especially for a secondary unit that needs some bolstering. He also won’t start again in the league, and he doesn’t need to in order to make an impact with the next team he signs with.
Douglas is still one of the premier athletes at 6’2″ and can be a quality cornerback for these two teams that could be in dire need of a cornerback. It might not last long, but it gives them a much-needed boost in their unit.

Helping Chidobe Awuzie
The Baltimore Ravens did have one of the worst pass secondaries last year, and it doesn’t look like it won’t get any better. The team signing Chidobe Awuzie this offseason to provide some stability was probably one of the weakest moves from a championship team like the Ravens. Marlon Humphrey and 2024 draft pick Nate Wiggins are on “lock” to start for this defense, but it doesn’t mean they can’t get another cornerback to save this unit. There was a reason why they got Tre’Davious White last season in a trade, and that could happen if they struggling during the 2025 campaign by signing another veteran.
With that, they might as well give Douglas a one-year contract to see what type of impact he has to offer. Awuzie won’t single-handedly handle even the backup duties, and the Ravens always figure out how to bring out the best in a veteran. After losing Ar’Darius Washington, they need more depth to solidify this entire secondary department and get them prepared for the upcoming competitive AFC conference again.
Saving Cowboys Secondary
Speaking of conferences and divisions, the NFC East is just as competitive as it can get. This means the Cowboys need the best talent if they want a chance to win the title to punch their ticket for the postseason. Trevon Diggs and DaRon Bland were supposed to be the promising starters for the cornerback department, but both of them are on the hot seat entering the 2025 campaign.
While Kaiir Elam provides some type of upside, they could use the help from Douglas, even as a backup, while 2025 draft pick Shavon Revel Jr. develops.
