No NFL team has been more active than the Baltimore Ravens over the past few days. General manager Eric DeCosta has pulled off a handful of trades before Tuesday’s roster deadline, and it’s pretty evident that he’s not done making moves.
ESPN insider Adam Schefter is reporting that Baltimore is sending former Michigan guard Ben Bredeson to the New York Giants in a deal that involves a swap of late-round draft picks.
Bredeson was selected by the Ravens in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He appeared in 10 games as a rookie, but he didn’t have a significant role on offense.
With Kevin Zeitler and Ben Powers listed as the starting offensive guards in Baltimore, trading away Bredeson isn’t a bad move. If anything, it gives the Ravens more ammunition in next year’s draft.

In addition to trading away Bredeson this month, Baltimore has shipped off rookie cornerback Shaun Wade and offensive lineman Greg Mancz. Wade was traded to the New England Patriots, whereas Mancz was dealt to the Miami Dolphins.
The Ravens have one of the deepest rosters in the NFL, which is why DeCosta is doing his best to acquire future assets for players who may not have a large role on the team this fall.
We’ll see if Baltimore can orchestrate another trade before the regular season begins.
