Several NFL teams across the league have been inquiring about the availability of Jauan Jennings in a potential trade before the 2025 campaign. According to the report, some teams are trying to make an offer to the San Francisco 49ers for their top wide receiver, but they’re reportedly not looking to send him to a new team. This stems from another source that Jennings wants a new contract or to trade him if they can’t come to terms on a deal. Originally selected in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft, the former Tennessee product is probably looking for a new raise, which could be smart considering he’s going to be one of the main contributors for this San Francisco offense, so he has the leverage in this situation.
Due to injuries to Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel last year, Jennings got more playing time and has been proving to the front office that he could be an explosive weapon. After catching a career-high of 77 passes for 975 receiving yards and six touchdowns on just 10 starts, Jennings knows what he’s worth, and it shouldn’t surprise anyone by his request. Even though he might show up to training camp without a new contract, he might not be happy, and that could affect the effort of his play this season, which is something the 49ers can’t afford. If the team can’t offer a new deal, here are some possible fits that could snag him in a possible trade.

Potential Destinations
New Orleans Saints
Even though the New Orleans Saints don’t know who their starting quarterback will be between Tyler Shough and Spencer Rattler, it doesn’t mean they should avoid upgrading their receiving corps. WR1 Chris Olave is coming off a season-ending injury last year and could use another skilled pass-catcher to help Rashid Shaheed and Brandin Cooks. Jennings might be the new WR2, but it shouldn’t take away too many snaps from Shaheed or Cooks.
Pittsburgh Steelers
Meanwhile, the Pittsburgh Steelers are still hunting for a secondary option for new trade acquisition DK Metcalf. The receiver depth chart of Scotty Miller and Robert Woods doesn’t look too promising for an old roster looking to be a complete team for quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Perhaps Jennings could provide some type of spark as a ferocious WR2 in the aerial attack.
Los Angeles Chargers
After losing Mike Williams to retirement, the Los Angeles Chargers are in dire need of another pass-catcher. Tre Harris finally signed his contract, but he’s unproven, just like Quentin Johnston, who is coming off back-to-back unproductive campaigns. 2024 draft pick Ladd McConkey is the only real deal in this situation and would greatly benefit from Jennings’ presence.
New England Patriots
The New England Patriots are trying to rebuild their receiver room as well after signing Stefon Diggs and Mack Hollins. Even though they have plenty of wideout depth, many should expect new head coach Mike Vrabel to install the talent he wants. Jennings could be the next homegrown pass-catcher for quarterback Drake Maye.
Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens don’t need another receiver this year, but if DeAndre Hopkins struggles, they could call a team for a trade. Despite that, it would be better to solidify their WR3 spot for the long term instead of scrambling for a veteran every season like Odell Beckham Jr., Nelson Agholor and Diontae Johnson. Jennings could fit perfectly in Lamar Jackson’s offense as a WR2 alongside Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman.
