The Ultimate Super Bowl LVI Betting Guide: Bengals vs Rams

February 10, 2022 by The Sports Fan Journal

Can the Cincinnati Bengals pull off the upset and beat the LA Rams in their own stadium?

After an 18-week regular season, and a thrilling postseason, we have finally reached the sporting spectacle of the year. This Super Bowl comes from So-Fi Stadium, the home of the Los Angeles Rams, and they’ll be looking to right the wrongs of 2019 and lift the Lombardi trophy.

As for Zac Taylor, he’ll look to beat his former colleague Sean McVay and lift the Super Bowl in his first attempt as a coach. The Bengals will have to beat the Rams in their own stadium, but they’re riding back-to-back underdog road wins going into this one.

Let’s look ahead to the Super Bowl and see the best bets for the game. All of the odds and props for this game have been brought to you by BetMGM and are correct at the time of writing.

Cincinnati Bengals

cincinnati bengals

This Bengals team has been defying expectations all season. They’ve gone from a 4-12 team to Super Bowl contenders inside one year. This upturn in results can be attributed to charismatic quarterback Joe Burrow. Recently regarded as Joey ‘Ice’ due to his cool demeanor, the Bengals quarterback is the star of this franchise. He is touted at +225 to be the MVP on Sunday.

One player that might be missing is tight end C.J Uzomah. He has been Burrow’s security blanket over the middle, so expect more targets for Ja’Marr Chase, Tyler Boyd, and Tee Higgins. The big game parlay involves most of these receivers, with Burrow to have 250+ passing yards, Higgins 55+ receiving yards, and Chase to have a receiving TD at a big +260.

Los Angeles Rams

los angeles rams

The Los Angeles Rams went all-in on 2021/22. They acquired Matthew Stafford before the season began, and the former Lion has been a cornerstone to their success. He is enjoying an impressive postseason, and he could very well win the MVP of the Super Bowl if the Rams win at +135.

Much like the Bengals, the Rams have their own stars on the outside. Cooper Kupp has been the best receiver in the NFL and odds of +600 to win the MVP can’t be sniffed at. However, the Rams have another receiver in Odell Beckham Jr. Signed from the Browns, OBJ has helped this team become more dynamic on offense and we like the parlay of Kupp and OBJ to have a TD, Rams to win by 5+ points 50+ total points at +650.

Key players

The key players are the aforementioned receivers. For the Bengals, Ja’Marr Chase has been a rookie sensation. He has broken the record for consecutive 100+ yard games in the postseason, and the rookie record for regular season yardage. Therefore, BetMGM’s +160 for Chase to have over 100 yards seems very reasonable.

On the Rams side, the stat line for Cooper Kupp is unmatched. He has 13 games with 100+ yards, he is -162 to achieve this again in the Super Bowl. On the defensive side of the ball, the Rams have stars as well. Both Aaron Donald and Von Miller should impress against a weak Bengals offensive line.

Cincinnati Bengals vs Los Angeles Rams – Notable stats

  • The two teams combine to average 54.2 points per game, 5.7 more than the total in this contest
  • In Los Angeles’ 20 games this year, it has 10 wins against the spread.
  • In Cincinnati’s 20 games this season, it has 13 wins against the spread
  • Joe Burrow has 300+ yards in 5 of the last 8 games
  • Cooper Kupp has 100+ yards in 7 of the last 9 games

Cincinnati Bengals vs Los Angeles Rams – Last meeting – How the bets went

08/27/2019 | Wembley Stadium | Los Angeles Rams: 24 @ Cincinnati Bengals: 10 | NFL Regular Season

These two teams were very different in 2019. The Rams were the favorites, and the Bengals weren’t able to cover the spread at +12. However, the game wasn’t as huge of a blowout that people expected, the Rams and Bengals scored the under on 48.5 combined total points.

Our prediction

This Super Bowl is going to be fantastic. Two offensive minded teams, and some incredible opportunities to wager well with BetMGM. We think the Rams are going to have an impressive offensive performance, so a big game parlay of Stafford 300+ passing yards, OBJ 50+ receiving yards, and Kupp with a TD at +300 seems like a good moneymaker.

Overall, we think the Bengals keep it close, but the Rams get the win in their home stadium at -200.
