The Baltimore Ravens have a number of position groups with high-level talent on both sides of the ball. As such, there will be fierce competition for a small number of bubble roster spots in certain areas throughout training camp and through the upcoming preseason.
Today’s Question of the Day is:
What is the deepest position group on the Ravens’ roster?
My answer: Cornerback
Much has been made about the Ravens’ secondary being one of the NFL’s most talented units and that’s in-large part due to their cornerback additions this spring and summer. The Ravens already profiled to have a solid group centered around starting duo Marlon Humphrey and Nate Wiggins. Then, they signed veterans Chidobe Awuzie and Jaire Alexander and drafted two high-upside cornerbacks in the later rounds.
Humphrey is fresh off a first-team All-Pro performance in 2024 and is established as a top-tier player at the position. Alexander carries that same level of pedigree and has just been snakebitten by injuries the past couple of seasons. Wiggins has the upside to become this caliber of player, too, and is coming off a strong rookie campaign.
Awuzie was a solid addition as well and brings No. 1 cornerback experience to the table but merely needs to play a depth and rotational role for the Ravens. Not to be an afterthought is another rising sophomore in T.J. Tampa, who essentially redshirted his rookie season but was widely believed to be a great value selection as a fourth-rounder in 2024.
A battle for one or two roster spots at the end of the depth chart will likely come down to incoming rookies Bihlal Kone, Robert Longerbeam, and Rebuen Lowery III, and fourth-year cornerback Jalyn Armour-Davis.
From top to bottom, between high-end talent and depth level, the Ravens’ cornerback room is stronger than ever.
