Which rookie on the Baltimore Ravens have the best shot at winning a Rookie of the Year award?
New hopeful stars have landed all across the NFL with the 2025 NFL Draft over, and the Ravens nabbed their fair few with 11 new drafted rookies and many undrafted rookies hoping to earn a spot on the roster. But who among them have the ability, landing spot and opportunity to not only play, but thrive in their role and contend for a prestigious Rookie of the Year award?
Today’s Question of the Day:
Which Rookie has the Best Chance to Win a Rookie of the Year Award?
My answer: EDGE Mike Green
Though first-round pick and excitable safety Malaki Starks feels the easy answer, I argue it is instead Green.
Over the past decade, seven of the winners were edge rushers and the other three were cornerbacks. Edge rusher is far easier to impress with gaudy sack totals, pressures and tackles. It’s far more difficult for the masses to recognize the impact of a safety when they’re not being thrown toward. For Starks, he’d have to rack up turnovers and make highlight-reel plays on a bi-weekly basis. Green, on the other hand, could churn out double-digit sacks and be a top contender, even if those sacks are for naught as an offense overcomes them with conversions on the same drive.
It’s clearly reflected in the current FanDuel Sportsbook odds, as edge rushers and pass-rushing defensive lineman grace the majority of the favorites. Starks is the first true safety, at No. 13.
