3 Commanders included in PFFs top 101 list for 2024

February 22, 2025 by Redskins Wire

The 2024 NFL season culminated with the Philadelphia Eagles’ victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX. Since then, the league and media have moved into offseason mode, preparing for the 2025 season. In one last look at 2024, Pro Football Focus released its top 101 players and three Washington Commanders are on the list.

PFF says that it ‘remains a player evaluation site at its core,’ and that this list is their ‘chance to acknowledge and praise the best players from the 2024 season one last time.’ Post-season performances were included.

66. WR Terry McLaurin

McLaurin clearly liked Jayden Daniels throwing him the football, as he racked up over 1,300 yards and 16 touchdowns, including the postseason. His 84.8 receiving grade is his best since 2019 and places him 14th among qualified wide receivers. McLaurin was also one of just five qualified wide receivers who finished with a perfect 99.9 deep receiving grade.

Terry McLaurin had the best season of his career in 2024, making himself a valuable asset for Jayden Daniels and the Commanders’ offense. They need to give him some help in 2025, but McLaurin and Daniels have a connection that could prove to be dangerous for other teams for years to come.

41. LB Bobby Wagner

An ageless wonder, Wagner makes the PFF 101 for the eighth time in his career and served as the veteran leader for a Commanders team that made a Cinderella run to the NFC Championship Game.

The 34-year-old’s 88.3 PFF grade during his first year in Washington was third among all linebackers in the NFL as he led all linebackers in pass-rush grade (90.9) while placing second in run-defense grade (91.2). Wagner is one of the 10 greatest linebackers who’s ever played the game and is once again a free agent this offseason.

Adam Peters and Dan Quinn signed Bobby Wagner last offseason to a one-year deal. Despite his age, both Peters and Quinn will want Wagner back for another year after the way he performed in 2024. They still need to nail down the run defense, and Wagner is an excellent linebacker to build around.

20. QB Jayden Daniels

Leading the Commanders to the NFC Championship Game, Daniels delivered a stellar rookie season, earning a 90.6 overall grade — fifth among qualified quarterbacks and placing him among the best rookie passers of the PFF era. He led the NFL with a 1.5% turnover-worthy play rate and was the most elusive quarterback in the league, forcing 52 missed tackles as a runner. While Washington must add more support around him to compete for a championship, Daniels was everything they could have hoped for in his debut season.

It should come as no surprise that the offensive rookie of the year landed inside the top 25 on this list. Daniels took the league by storm and continued to turn heads all season long. He broke Ben Roethlisberger’s record for the most Pepsi Rookie of the Week awards, and he didn’t look like the rookie he was on the field. He remained poised, humble, and focused throughout the season, and Washington is excited to build around their next franchise quarterback.
