Talk of a Deshaun Watson trade has started to ramp up once again with the NFL’s trade deadline just over a week away. The Miami Dolphins are reportedly atop the list of potential destinations for the Houston Texans quarterback, but a few other organizations are still monitoring the situation.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport shared on Sunday that three other teams not named the Dolphins are still kicking the tires on a trade for Watson. According to the insider, the Carolina Panthers, the Denver Broncos and the Philadelphia Eagles remain linked to the Texans quarterback.
Here’s what else Rapoport had to say on the interest in Watson on Sunday morning:
“Based on everything I’ve heard, the hope, the belief, the expectation is something will happen involving a trade and Deshaun Watson before Nov. 2,” Rapoport said. “There’s been plenty of false starts, plenty of rumors around this. So take this for what it is, the expectation is something will be completed by Nov. 2.
“Here’s where it stands: Multiple teams are still interested in trading for Deshaun Watson — I know there was a report earlier in the week about the Dolphins, they are not alone. Among the teams that have been discussed over the past several months, the Panthers, the Broncos, the Eagles and some others.
“His legal situation is still as of right now unsettled. Still, of course, the civil and criminal allegations of sexual misconduct. I’m told there are still teams interested in trading for him, despite the fact that this is still unsettled.”

All three teams have been connected to Watson over the past few months and are still discussing trading for him. However, the 26-year-old quarterback has some leverage in the situation, leaving each club behind the Dolphins at this point.
Watson’s no-trade clause complicates the situation, as he effectively has veto power on any trade that the Texans put together. Rapoport reports that it’s believed Watson would accept a trade to Miami, but not to any of the other aforementioned destinations.
The 26-year-old still faces an investigation into the civil and criminal allegations of sexual misconduct against him, but it seems like momentum is building towards a trade. The only question left to answer is what team will be the one to strike a deal with the Texans.
All eyes will be on Watson and Houston before the trade deadline on Nov. 2.
