The Seattle Seahawks have successfully won the Lombardi Trophy, but they’re at risk of losing Super Bowl LX MVP free agent Kenneth Walker this upcoming offseason. Bleacher Report made a list of possible destinations for the standout running back, as many sources have predicted he’s set for a huge payday. This means the newly crowned champion should have plenty of interest from teams. While the Seahawks could re-sign him to a new contract, Walker is likely to compare the deal with other teams, depending on what he receives.
With just in his fourth season, the future is bright for Walker. He recorded a career-high 1,309 yards from scrimmage and scored five touchdowns this past season, while being a reliable downhill runner to continue moving the chains during the win over the Patriots.
3 Teams That Could Target Super Bowl MVP Free Agent Kenneth Walker
There’s still a good chance that the Seahawks can retain Walker, but it may be hard after the Seahawks offensive coordinator, Klint Kubiak, said during the Super Bowl that he will join the Las Vegas Raiders as the new head coach next season. This means a lot can change with the Seahawks this offseason in terms of offense, and even with Zach Charbonnet, it’s not a guarantee that the run game will be the same. The Seahawks will still be early favorites win another Super Bowl next season, but if they lose Walker, those odds decrease massively.
Walker has a pair of 1,000 rushing yards back-to-back seasons on his resume, so he has the leverage to get what he wants this offseason. If the Seahawks can’t retain the running back during free agency, expect these three teams to make an aggressive push.
Potential Fits
Washington Commanders
With the Commanders having enough cap space once again, this most logical destination for Walker. Despite the team firing offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury, Jayden Daniels still trusts the team in what they’re doing, and the Commanders getting Walker should be a sweet deal for the young quarterback. The Commanders shipped Brian Robinson Jr. to the 49ers while putting all of their eggs in a basket for emerging downhill runner, Jacory Croskey-Merritt.
However, there is still room to grow for the former seventh-round pick. Walker could answer tranform this offense that was once on fire in 2024. The team desires to get younger offensively, so Walker’s addition would make sense to continue piling on the vision.
Kansas City Chiefs
It might be difficult for the Chiefs to get Walker due to cap space, but never say never. The Chiefs must restructure the contracts of Patrick Mahomes and Chris Jones to free up some money, which shouldn’t be hard to do if they have a plan to improve the team. After missing the postseason for almost 10 years, there’s no doubt that their top keystone players would be willing to be flexible.
The running back position for the Chiefs has always been questionable, with Isiah Pacheco dealing with injuries despite bringing back Kareem Hunt. With both of these backs set for free agency, Walker is easily the dominant replacement to give Mahomes a long-term bullet waiting in the backfield.
Baltimore Ravens
While the Ravens have no plans on moving on without Derrick Henry, the veteran is aging. The team shockingly got rid of John Harbaugh after their wild-card loss, so that could tell you that the Ravens might be heading in a different direction very soon. Lamar Jackson is still the starting quarterback of this team, but he’s been rumored in several trade speculations. Despite that, as long as Jackson remains with the Ravens, the team should try to push for Walker to give them a long-term running back.
