The Alabama Crimson Tide are reportedly losing a member of Nick Saban’s special teams staff.
According to college football insider Bruce Feldman of The Athletic, Marshall is expected to hire Alabama staffer Johnathan Galante as the Thundering Herd’s new special teams coordinator. Galante was a “key figure behind the scenes” in leading the Tide’s special teams unit this past season.

Galante joined Saban’s staff in 2019 after serving as a graduate assistant/special teams coach for Virginia Tech. Before that, he was a walk-on for the Hokies under then-coach Frank Beamer from 2014-16.
Galante will join a Marshall program that is in the midst of a fight with the Conference USA. The Thundering Herd plan to play under the Sun Belt Conference in 2022, but the C-USA has already placed them and two other departing programs on the 2022 fall schedule.
