The Washington Commanders veteran cornerback Marshon Lattimore could be on thin ice this upcoming 2025 season. According to reports, one source believes that the Commanders may be open to trading the veteran as the team is still rebuilding a new roster, especially under quarterback Jayden Daniels. The Commanders are in the best spot possible in the league, so they’re doing everything they can to maximize Daniels’ contract this year and fetch the best talent. However, this doesn’t mean they won’t trade any of their current players to garner some draft capital to build a new team, which they will have to eventually do when Daniels is eligible for a contract extension.
Lattimore finally got a chance to play in the regular season for the Commanders after missing the first four games since his trade. After posting 25 solo tackles and five pass deflections in nine games and nine starts, it might not be enough to secure a future in Washington. Originally selected in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft, the former Ohio State product hasn’t been durable for the New Orleans Saints after spending his entirety with them. It’s why it was time for the Saints to let go of him before the trade deadline last year.
Lattimore might not go anywhere before the 2025 season, but there’s a chance the team could trade him during the year. These five rosters could take a shot at him to improve their playoff team.

Possible Fits
Baltimore Ravens
Last season, the Baltimore Ravens had one of the worst pass secondaries, which is why they brought in Tre’Davious White in a trade for relief. It didn’t pan out that way as Brandon Stephens held this roster back from shedding success to stop wide receivers in the aerial attack. 2024 draft pick Nate Wiggins has a bright future, but he might need time to adjust, and Lattimore could be a good temporary piece to pair with Marlon Humphrey.
Kansas City Chiefs
Meanwhile, the Chiefs were able to salvage their cornerback unit even though they lost L’Jarius Sneed last offseason. Kristian Fulton is finally coming into the mix to bring extra depth, but after losing Justin Reid this past free agency, they should get more talent. Jaylen Watson has been a name circulating in trade rumors, and if that’s true, they could take a chance on Lattimore on a temporary contract to salvage the unit.
Carolina Panthers
Meanwhile, the Carolina Panthers are in the best position not only on the offensive side of the ball, but the defensive side is improving. Mike Jackson and Jaycee Horn are two solid cornerbacks who won’t lose their jobs, but they could have someone like Lattimore in rotation. The Panthers might not be playoff contenders, but if they add a few championship-minded veterans, they could be pushing in the right direction.
Buffalo Bills
Rasul Douglas is still on the market, so that means the Buffalo Bills are not bringing him back since they had several chances for his return. After trading Kaiir Elam, it’s time for the team to add veterans to strengthen this postseason roster. Lattimore could fit the billing in Buffalo and turn this defense into an old-school ballhawk that could be scary.
Los Angeles Chargers
However, there’s a chance the Los Angeles Chargers might not be done adding more talent to their uprising roster. Despite signing Donte Jackson as a replacement for Kristian Fulton, the Chargers could use a veteran like Lattimore to help second-year Cam Hart. The team did well re-signing Elijah Molden, but the safety unit won’t be enough to save the pass secondary, so Lattimore could easily fill the hole.
