Breaking: Ravens First Round Superstar On Trade Block

May 13, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

rashod bateman trade

With the Dallas Cowboys attempting to get him, the Baltimore Ravens could put wide receiver Rashod Bateman on the trade block before the 2025 regular season. According to a report, it seems like the Ravens might leave the door open for other rosters to inquire about Bateman, but it has to come at the right offer. While the Cowboys were trying to trade for him, it’s easy to see why the team had interest before the conversations didn’t last long between Dallas and Baltimore. Originally selected in the 2021 NFL Draft, the former Minnesota product got off to a slow start in the first three seasons of his career with the Ravens, but the team saw some improvement last year.

However, that probably won’t justify his next contract if the Ravens even give him one. It’s interesting to note that Bateman is explosive “when he wants to,” but Zay Flowers is the clear-cut No. 1 wide receiver for Lamar Jackson’s pass attack. Finally, Bateman had a breakout campaign last season, recording 45 catches for 756 yards and nine touchdowns, which is a good sign for the offense. However, the biggest implication is whether he can stay consistent, and that might not be the case.

The Ravens wouldn’t have been looking for a capable third-man wideout if it meant Bateman was performing up to standards. With that, it shouldn’t be surprising if the Ravens entertain a trade offer from these four teams.

Possible Next Teams

Los Angeles Chargers

The Los Angeles Chargers are rebuilding their entire wide receiver unit after drafting Tre Harris this year. 2024 draft pick Ladd McConkey is looking like a true superstar, but he won’t excel if it means the team is going backwards and considering signing Keenan Allen and already bringing in Mike Williams. While these two could have some juice left, Bateman might fit as a long-term weapon for Justin Herbert’s offense, at least as the third man receiver.

Washington Commanders

Meanwhile, the Commanders are still rebuilding as well, even though they’re in a good place since they went to the NFC Championship Game last year. Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel are the two lockdown wide receivers for Jayden Daniels’ offense, but the third spot is still up for grabs despite signing Michael Gallup and bringing back Noah Brown. While Luke McCaffrey could break out, nobody should count on the Commanders being aggressive during the 2025 season and getting Bateman.

New Orleans Saints

It’s been a hectic offseason for the New Orleans Saints as they will move on from Derek Carr after announcing his retirement. It’ll be on Tyler Shough and Spencer Rattler to battle it out, but no matter who wins, they will need a capable playmaker either way. If it’s true, Chris Olave could request a trade any moment, and if that happens, they should at least make some phone calls to get Bateman to pair up with Rashid Shaheed in the slot.

Carolina Panthers

It’s never been a better time than for the Panthers to be aggressive before the 2025 regular season. After having two back-to-back unproductive years, the team could use another wide receiver once they lose Adam Thielen to retirement. While they have Tetairoa McMillian, he probably won’t be ready for full-time duties. However, Bateman could come in at the right moment and explode behind Xavier Legette and Jalen Coker.
