Breaking: Saints Could Put Draft Bust On Trade Block

August 13, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

After getting several additions in the backfield unit, the New Orleans Saints could make running back Kendre Miller available for a trade. It’s easy to see why the Saints could trade Miller since there isn’t a ton of room for him to thrive when you have Alvin Kamara, Clyde Edwards-Helaire and now Cam Akers in the same depth chart. According to NFLTradeRumors, they believe it’s best to trade Miller, especially since he’s still healthy and in his rookie contract, which could intrigue several teams across the league. Originally selected in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft, the former TCU product was hoping to become a sustainable backup for Kamara during his rookie season, but had one of the worst campaigns.

Miller received criticism from former head coach Dennis Allen, and after letting him go, it seemed like Miller’s job was safe this offseason. However, this wasn’t the case as the Saints, who have a depleted quarterback situation between Tyler Shough and Spencer Rattler, will likely need to lean a little more on the run. Miller had several opportunities to prove that he could be a reliable asset as Kamara is getting older. All things must come to an end, and it wouldn’t be surprising if the Saints make him available on the trade block to see what type of value the Saints could get in return.

Breaking: Saints Could Put Draft Bust Kendre Miller On Trade Block – 4 Possible Destinations

Best Fits

Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys have one of the worst running back units in the league after failing to make a solid investment for one this offseason. Between Miles Sanders and Javonte Williams, the Cowboys are likely to start 2025 draft pick Jaydon Blue, but they shouldn’t rely on just him to take on the majority of snaps. Williams and Sanders are past their prime, so they should take a risk on a low-stakes running back who’s still on a rookie contract like Miller, to salvage this backfield room.

Baltimore Ravens

Meanwhile, the Baltimore Ravens have an interesting situation in their backfield room. Derrick Henry is one of the best runners in the league, but he’s aging slowly. Keaton Mitchell showed a few flashes during his return to this year’s preseason. It doesn’t guarantee that he can stay consistent, and it’ll be something for the Ravens. If Baltimore wants to continue dissecting talent, the team could trade for Miller and give him a chance to give Mitchell some competition.

Washington Commanders

The Washington Commanders have all of the right things going into the 2025 campaign offensively except for it’s wideout and running back unit. The pass-catching department was solid until the team found themselves struggling to decide whether they would extend Terry McLaurin, especially when Deebo Samuel hasn’t been looking like the brightest at training camp. Between Brian Robinson Jr. and Austin Ekeler, Robinson has the advantage since he’s younger, but he’s hanging on by a thread if he can’t breakout this upcoming season.

With that, they should trade for Miller to give themselves another option in the backfield for Jayden Daniels.

Los Angeles Chargers

Head coach Jim Harbaugh wants to win football games with the run, so they should get as many running backs as they can. After signing Najee Harris and drafting Omarion Hampton, the Chargers could use one more body to fight for yardage in short conversions. Miller isn’t getting a lot of looks, but it’s a chance for him to learn behind Harbaugh.
