The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will kickoff the 2021 NFL season with a matchup against the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday. And just two days ahead of this Week 1 matchup, the Bucs have released a notable injury report.
For Tuesday’s practice, Tampa Bay rested veterans Rob Gronkowski, Jason Pierre-Paul and Steve McLendon. The team also added star wide receiver Chris Godwin, who was limited in practice due to a quad injury.
Wide receiver Antonio Brown (knee) and safety Jordan Whitehead (hamstring) were the only players to log “Did Not Participate” designations due to injury. Although, Brown’s DNP was a planned rest day as he’s expected to be ready to take the field on Thursday.
Reserve running back Giovanni Bernard notched full practice participation despite a nagging ankle injury.

Whitehead is the only Bucs player to be officially ruled out for Thursday’s season opener. After practice today, head coach Bruce Arians revealed that his starting safety will not suit up against the Cowboys, likely to be replaced by third-year backup Mike Edwards.
This injury report from Tampa Bay is the first we’ve heard of Godwin’s hamstring issue, meaning it’s likely a new problem. Given his limited participation in practice today though, it appears the severity of the injury isn’t too concerning.
The Bucs and the Cowboys will kickoff at 8:20 p.m. ET on Thursday.
