Things have not been pretty for the Los Angeles Lakers this preseason. The club is winless in five games, losing by an average of 17.2 points per game.
They have one more chance to get a ‘W’ on the board before the regular season rolls around next week. The Lakers are on the road at the Sacramento Kings tonight.
One of the team’s veteran offseason additions, Carmelo Anthony, isn’t particularly worried, and believes the team will jell in time. The Lakers revamped their lineup around stars LeBron James and Anthony Davis, adding ‘Melo, superstar point guard Russell Westbrook, and a number of other role players.
“We can see how we jell together. I thought we had some great moments when all four of us were on the court together,” Carmelo said, after most of those Lakers stars played in the last preseason game, a 111-99 loss to the Golden State Warriors. “We had spurts where we were very in-tune, we were locked in. We don’t expect it to happen overnight. But I thought yesterday was one of those moments where like, ‘OK, we see that, we see that.’”

“It looks good. It felt good. I believe we will build off of that,” he added, via the Los Angeles Times.
LeBron, AD, Westbrook, and Carmelo will all be playing tonight against the Kings, the final warm-up for the regular season opener against the Warriors next Tuesday. Even with the losses, Carmelo thinks the team will come together pretty quickly when regular season play rolls around.
“You find your groove,” Anthony said. “I think we’ll figure it out much quicker than people are giving us credit for. But that’s on us. That’s something, we take that challenge. That’s something we know and that’s something we talk about. Even though it’s preseason and we lost some games, that’s definitely something that we talk about. How do we speed that process up without cheating?
“And I think we’re very aware when it comes to that.”
Tonight’s Lakers preseason game tips off at 10 p.m. ET.
