TNT has changed Charles Barkley’s role for the upcoming All-Star Game this weekend.
It was originally announced Barkley would join Kevin Harlan and Reggie Miller in TNT’s main booth for the ASG. The network has since made a change and it will now be Dwayne Wade joining Harlan and Miller.
Barkley, meanwhile, will be on an alternate broadcast option from the studio on “Inside the NBA.” He’ll be joined by the crew: Shaquille O’Neal, Ernie Johnson and Kenny Smith. Draymond Green will also be on hand. The broadcast plans to hold live interview with players in the All-Star Game.
This is what Barkley is used to doing, so it’s not much of a change.
“The NBA All-Star Game will now have its own alternative broadcast featuring Charles Barkley, Shaquille O’Neal and the recently signed Draymond Green,” writes Andrew Marchand of the New York Post.
“For Sunday night’s game, Turner has shifted its plan and will have Barkley team with the rest of ‘Inside the NBA’ crew, including Ernie Johnson and Kenny Smith, to opine on the game on TBS. TNT will add some bells and whistles, too, but it will be a little more traditional. Turner Sports announced the moves on Tuesday.”

The alternative broadcast option has gained a ton of momentum this past year or so.
ESPN made it popular through the secondary ‘Manningcast’ that included Peyton and Eli Manning providing live analysis of Monday night games. TNT will no doubt try and garner similar success.
Charles Barkley will be on “Inside the NBA” for Sunday’s All-Star Game.
