The Florida Gators continue to stumble through the mess that has been their 2021 season.
After starting the year at 3-1 with a narrow loss to then-No. 1 Alabama, Dan Mullen and the Gators have absolutely crumbled. Falling in their last three games, including a blowout loss to South Carolina this past weekend, the team now find themselves in yet another losing situation.
In what should be a cupcake win, the Gators are currently trailing the FCS Samford Bulldogs in The Swamp. At halftime, the score is 42-35 in favor of the Bulldogs.
Not only is this score shocking against an FCS opponent, it’s shocking against any opponent. 42 points in the first half is the most allowed by Florida in program history, per ESPN Stats and Info.
The college football world took to Twitter to react to this stunning deficit.

Samford leading 21-14 at Florida in 1st quarter. Kudos for Samford not getting caught looking ahead to next week’s game vs. Furman

Samford paid $525,000 to play at Florida today. Ironically, that will work out to $1 for every yard Samford gains against Gators.

No Power 5 school had allowed more than 30 points in any game against an FCS school this season … until Florida allowed 42 to Samford in the first half today. IN THE FIRST HALF.

A guy named Liam has 4 TDs in the first half against Florida, this means legally Dan Mullen can be fired for cause

Regardless of today’s outcome, this performance may as well be a loss for the Gators.
With the team seemingly given up on the 2021 season, the Florida administration will have some big-time decisions to make in the coming weeks.
