Jimbo Fisher has been given a raise/extension on his already massive contract with the Texas A&M Aggies.
According to reports on Tuesday evening, Fisher’s new deal with the program will see him earn an average of $9 million per year over the next decade — totaling at around $90 million through the 2031 season.
This isn’t the first time Fisher has made big money with the Aggies. Back when he joined the program in 2017, the former Florida State coach signed a 10-year, $75 million contract (the richest total-value contract in college football history at the time).
This big-time extension for Fisher comes directly after his team’s impressive one-loss season in 2020 — falling only to the reigning national champion Alabama Crimson Tide in Week 2 before going on to defeat the North Carolina Tar Heels in the Orange Bowl.
The college football world took to Twitter to react to this contract news.

A raise on what was a 10-year, $75 million deal to lure him away from Florida State? We going to $100 million? Geez https://t.co/Cyh6Yzq7MS

Right this minute, UT boosters are thinking: “We can’t let the Aggies embarrass us like this. Get Sark on the blower and offer 10 years, $100 million. That’ll show ‘em!” https://t.co/jnMJi1iRAd

When seven years and $52 million left on your original deal isn’t enough https://t.co/E0MrKwG93Z

Through Fisher’s three seasons with the program so far, the Aggies have logged a 26-10 overall record and three bowl-game victories. That being said, his A&M squad has failed to reach the SEC championship in each of those seasons.
While the 53-year-old head coach still has quite a bit to prove in College Station, the organization clearly believes in what he can do moving forward.
With a load of new money in his pockets, Fisher and the Aggies will kickoff their 2021 season with an opening-week matchup against Kent State this Saturday.
