When Dan Quinn was introduced as the head coach of the Washington Commanders in February, he was hesitant to discuss the roster. Quinn mentioned one position as a strength: Defensive tackle.
It wasn’t as if Quinn didn’t know Washington’s roster well. Not only did he coach against the Commanders twice per season for the past three years, but he also studied the roster in preparation for his interview. We’ve seen how Quinn and general manager Adam Peters felt about Washington’s roster, but Quinn was excited to coach the Commanders’ defensive tackles.
While Washington has rebuilt the defensive end position, the top four defensive tackles from the past two seasons are back. Additionally, the Commanders added second-round pick, Johnny Newton, giving them outstanding depth at the position.
We continue our training camp positional previews by looking at the defensive tackles.
