Over the course of the season, star wide receiver Davante Adams and the Green Bay Packers were engaged in contract talks.
For the better part of the summer, it seemed like a potential deal would come before the 2021 season kicks off. However, the Packers are just a few days from kicking off their season-opener against the New Orleans Saints.
Unfortunately for Adams, no new deal is in place just yet. But could there be one in the coming days?
Not according to the wide receiver himself. On Wednesday afternoon, Packers reporter Rob Demovsky asked Adams if there was a chance a deal could get done before the season-opener on Sunday.
“No. No chance,” Adams said.
Davante Adams on the chances of getting a contract extension done before the season opener, which has been a point where deals have gotten done in the past:
“No. No chance.”
Ok, then.

That’s not exactly what Packers fans want to hear. They already know that Aaron Rodgers’ time with the team might be coming to an end after the 2021 season.
They would hate to lose Adams as well.
He’s unquestionably one of the best wide receivers in the entire league – if not the best. He led the league with 18 touchdown receptions during the 2020 season even though he played in 14 games.
Adams finished second in the league in receptions with 115 and fifth in yards with 1,374. He and Rodgers are a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses, but both could conceivably be playing elsewhere next season.
