Earlier this month, sports fans learned one of the most prominent journalists at ESPN would be retiring at the end of August.
Jackie MacMullan, one of the most accomplished journalists at ESPN, called it a career – at least with the Worldwide Leader. ESPN announced earlier in the month that her final day would be August 31.
With her final day here, ESPN paid tribute to MacMullan and her legendary career with the network. NBA on ESPN released a tribute video showing some of her incredible career.
Today is Jackie MacMullan’s last day at ESPN before retirement.

MacMullan’s final show came on Around the Horn this afternoon with an all-female cast.
Fox reporter Kellie Rowe loved the sentiment of the final show.
“All four squares especially for this important occasion you LOVE TO SEE IT. each of these women talking about how Jackie MacMullan, retiring from ESPN after 39 years, inspired them in their careers – this is just awesome. I’m so moved,” she said on Twitter.

Earlier in the month, MacMullan issued a statement about her departure.
“I feel fortunate to have collaborated with so many incredibly talented people during my 10-plus years at ESPN,” said MacMullan. “Sometimes you just know when you’re ready to dial it back, and this is the right time for me. I’m grateful for the memories, but especially for the friends I’ve made along the way. Thank you to my ESPN colleagues for all of your support.”
Congratulations to MacMullan on her incredible run at ESPN!
