For the fourth time since 2000, the Washington Commanders will have the No. 2 overall pick in the NFL draft. In those three previous instances, Washington selected a quarterback once. However, in next week’s 2024 NFL draft, the Commanders are expected to take a quarterback.
The last time Washington picked No. 2 was in 2020. Much like how it began in 2012, it started out well and ended badly. Robert Griffin III was the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2012, and Chase Young was the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2020.
The Commanders traded Young last October after less than four full seasons in Washington.
