In just under 12 hours, the United States men’s basketball team will face off against France for the chance to win a gold medal.
Led by Kevin Durant, Team USA took down Australia in an impressive performance in the semi-final round. That win set up a date with France, which narrowly took down Luka Doncic and Slovenia by a score of 90-89.
This will be the second meeting between the two teams in Tokyo. In group play, France stunned Team USA with an 83-76 victory.
Before they face off for the second time, one member of the France team had a bold prediction for the game.
“I think it will represent something pretty special, because it’s the first one we’re going to win,” Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot said.

While Luwawu-Cabarrot is confident, the team’s head coach knows they will be the underdog.
“I think, I hope, that we will be ready Saturday,” France coach Vincent Collet said. “We know Team USA is the favorite of this final. They have been (the) favorite for the last couple games. But I hope when we play against them we sustain our fire, we sustain our energy, even if we know they are favored.”
Team USA and France tip off tonight at 10:30 on NBC.
