Hogs Haven takes a look at 2025 NFL Draft prospects that could contribute to the Commanders

Jonah Monheim, IOL, USC
School: University of Southern California | Conference: Big Ten Conference
College Experience: Senior | Age: 23 (Week 1)
Height / Weight: 6’4” 302 lbs
Projected Draft Status: Day 3 (Round 5-6)

Player Comparison: Robert Hainsey

Player Overview

A three-star prospect out of high school, Jonah Monheim chose University of Southern California where he spent his entire collegiate career. Since joining the USC Trojans, he became a three-year starter splitting 46 games between right tackle (18 starts), left tackle (12), center (12), and right guard (4).

Jonah Monheim is a jack-of-all-trades offensive lineman, playing nearly every position during his four years with the Trojans. His last year, he started every game at center. His best trait is how well he moves as a pass and run blocker. The mirroring abilities carry over from his time playing tackle. He is also fluid in space, able to find and block defenders in pulls and screens. Jonah has issues when it comes to facing heavier defensive linemen or stacked defenders. He lacks the desired arm length and doesn’t have elite power to be a mover. All in all, Jonah Monheim is a offensive lineman whose best fit is at center or reserve interior lineman but can play tackle in a pinch.

How does he fit on the team

Finding reserve offensive linemen is as important as finding starters. None should look further than how the offensive line play fell off when interior linemen Tyler Biadasz and Sam Cosmi were injured. The Commanders not only have to shuffle offensive linemen to fill the right guard position but also find capable interior lineman in case of injury for Tyler Biadasz or Nick Allegretti. Jonah Monheim can serve as the primary reserve offensive lineman. His tape shows his capability to play any position along the line, especially at center. Jonah’s movement skills make him a fit on screen plays and pulling, climbing run plays. Last year showed the importance of having good reserve offensive linemen. Monheim can be the plug-and-play reserve the Commanders need.
