It turns out Steph Curry isn’t the only NBA superstar signing a massive contract extension this month. Moments ago, it was announced that Kevin Durant will sign a four-year extension with the Brooklyn Nets.
Durant’s longtime manager, Rich Kleiman, confirmed on Friday that his client has agreed to sign a four-year extension worth $198 million.
This new deal for Durant means he’ll make over half a billion dollars exclusively from his NBA contracts by the time his career is over. That’s quite an achievement for the 32-year-old star.
As part of this agreement, Durant will decline his player option for the 2022-23 season. His four-year extension will officially kick in once the 2021-22 season is over.
Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant plans to sign a four-year, $198 million contract extension sometime after he becomes eligible on Saturday, @RichKleiman tells ESPN.

Durant was sensational in his first real season for the Nets, averaging 26.9 points, 7.1 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game.
There were some concerns about Durant’s durability heading into this past season, but he silenced all his critics and proved that he’s still one of the best scorers the NBA has ever seen.
Despite Durant’s heroics in the playoffs, Brooklyn didn’t reach its ultimate goal of winning an NBA Finals this year. To be fair, both James Harden and Kyrie Irving were injured in the Eastern Conference semifinals.
With their star-studded trio back at full strength, the Nets should once again be considered the team to beat in the Eastern Conference heading into this fall.
