Believe it or not, Khabib Nurmagomedov was offered a chance to fight Floyd Mayweather. However, he ultimately turned down that opportunity.
During a recent episode of Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson, Nurmagomedov spilled the beans that he was offered $100 million to square off with Mayweather. The reason he rejected that bout is because he doesn’t choose his fights based on the payouts.
“I don’t wanna make boxing community upset with me. Of course money makes sense too. But I never fight for money,” Nurmagomedov said, via Daily Mail. “Money is good, but most of the time it is bad.”
Nurmagomedov believes an absurd amount of money, like $100 million, could change a person’s behavior. At the end of the day, he strictly cares about his legacy in the octagon.
“Money brings you to the situation that you have never been, and you don’t know how to act when you have so much money,” Nurmagomedov continued. “It is a little bit dangerous. In this business, I don’t come to make money. I come here for legacy.”

There’s no denying that it would be really cool to see Nurmagomedov take on Mayweather, especially since they’re both undefeated. That being said, we can’t blame Khabib Nurmagomedov for wanting to preserve his legacy.
It’s very possible that Mayweather takes on a high-profile celebrity in the future, but boxing fans shouldn’t expect him to face off with Nurmagomedov.
