Kirk Herbstreit sent ESPN’s Todd McShay a thoughtful message on Tuesday following McShay’s surprising announcement surrounding his role at ESPN.
McShay, a fan-favorite analyst and sideline reporter for the Worldwide Leader, is taking a break from his career. He wants to spend more time with his family and focus on his health. From the sound of it, his leave will be temporary.
“I am going to take some time away to focus on my health and my family,” McShay said on Twitter. “Thank you ESPN for being so supportive and for all the well wishes – I can’t wait to be back on the sidelines soon.”
Herbstreit, McShay’s colleague at ESPN, responded to McShay’s announcement on Tuesday evening. The college football analyst had a heartfelt message to share.
“Our guy. We’re ALL thinking about you Todd and all 100% in your corner,” Herbstreit said on Twitter. “Let us know how we can ever help. Get well brother.”

It’s unfortunate for fans of college football that Todd McShay is stepping away, but we wish him all the best in his recovery.
Kirk Herbstreit, meanwhile, was a busy man over the weekend. He spent Saturday morning on College GameDay, was in the broadcast booth with Chris Fowler for Clemson-Georgia Saturday evening and then called Ole Miss-Louisville with Rece Davis on Monday night.
This coming Saturday, Herbstreit will be on the call for a top-10 match-up between the Iowa Hawkeyes and Iowa State Cyclones.
