Kliff Kingsbury talks about Hail Marys; Joe Whitt Jr says the brotherhood in Washington is real

October 31, 2024 by Hogs Haven

Washington’s coordinators talk to the media before practice

Kliff Kingsbury was first up before today’s Washington Commanders practice. He said TEs coach David Raih has been a part of five Hail Mary’s but Jayden Daniels’ Hail Mary was his second as a coach. Kingsbury said former Packers/Cardinals QB coach Tom Clements and Raih installed the Hail Mary in Arizona like it was a normal play, and he thought, “This shit never works”. They were a part of three in Green Bay with Aaron Rodgers, and then Kyler Murray completed one to DeAndre Hopkins when he was the head coach of the Cardinals.

Jayden Daniels accuracy:

Asked about Jayden Daniels’ crazy accuracy, Kliff Kingsbury jokes, “he’s not great at the trashcan drill but he’s pretty good on the field.” pic.twitter.com/xgjF8ZHDKc

Joe Whitt Jr was so pissed off at his defense for giving up the go-ahead to the Chicago Bears with under a minute left that he almost missed the game-winning Hail Mary from Jayden Daniels. He was leaving the booth but watched the play on a tv, and he was still pissed at the last play he called.

Bobby Wagner is a coach on the field and off the field for Whitt’s defense. He is always studying film, and encouraging other LBs to do the same. Whitt said the brotherhood that you hear about is real, and Wagner is big part of that culture change.

Joe Whitt on Bobby Wagner – He studies like a coach – “he’s there the whole day, watching film.” Whitt says Wagner is almost like a player coach on the field

Joe Whitt Jr. addressing the media. Said Bobby Wagner studies more than anybody. Spends a lot of time on the players’ day off watching film and also gets the other linebackers to watch film with him as well

Watching the Hail Mary:

Commanders DC Joe Whitt said he didn’t see much of the Hail Mary last Sunday because he was pissed.

“We should close the game, finish the game in those winning moments, and I blame myself. We were in a solid call, but there was a better call that I should’ve gotten to and I… pic.twitter.com/YAWKij8S2j

Whitt said he was pissed & walking out of the box b/c they gave up a TD. He turned, saw they had time and had a chance at the Hail Mary. was watching it on the TV. “I just stood there and everyone was going crazy. I was still a little pissed b/c we let them score.” Then went crazy
