Former Oklahoma superstar quarterback Kyler Murray doesn’t know what it feels like to beat the Texas Longhorns. He’s hoping this year’s Sooners team can experience the triumph.
Murray lost his lone game against Texas back in 2018. Sam Ehlinger and the Longhorns raced out to a 45-24 lead before Oklahoma came storming back to even the score at 45 with just a few minutes remaining. Texas went on to win the game on a field goal.
Despite the loss, Murray knows everything there is to know about the Red River rivalry. He’s hoping the 2021 Sooners can experience the triumph of victory over Texas this afternoon.
Murray sent Oklahoma a two-word message on Saturday afternoon: “#BeatTexas.”

Oklahoma is off to a disastrous start versus Texas this afternoon, though.
The Longhorns scored on the first play of the game with a screen pass to electric wide out Xavier Worthy that went for a 75-yard touchdown. The Sooners defense couldn’t get off any blocks and several defenders missed tackle on Worthy’s run to the end-zone.
The Texas defense then stopped Oklahoma with a a three-and-out on the following possession before the Longhorns’ special teams unit made a highlight play and blocked a punt. The Longhorns recovered at the Oklahoma two-yard line and scored another touchdown just moments later to go up 14-0.
The good news for the Sooners is they still have plenty of time to mount a comeback. But it’s starting to look like the Longhorns will be too much to overcome this afternoon.
Tune into ABC right now to catch the rest of Oklahoma-Texas.
