There were some (not us) who coined Caleb Williams a “Heisman candidate” after he led Oklahoma to wins over Texas, TCU, Kansas and Texas Tech. Yikes.
Williams, the talented five-star freshman, was flat-out awful versus No. 13 Baylor on Saturday. Perhaps we should have seen this coming. Williams’ four wins before Saturday’s Baylor game came against teams who are a combined 14-22 this season.
The Oklahoma quarterback had one play, in particular, that was just about as bad as it gets. It happened in the third quarter when, on second and one, Williams tried to throw the ball out of bounds but didn’t put enough juice on it and Baylor picked it off.
This is about as bad a throw you’ll ever see.

Caleb Williams is getting absolutely blasted for his performance versus Baylor.
It’s safe to say his Heisman candidacy is dead.
Caleb Williams is having a nightmarish game, it doesn’t help that his receivers can’t get open.

Tough day for Caleb Williams.

It’s worth a reminder Caleb Williams was coined a football prodigy before he even stepped on the field at Norman.
Fans began booing Spencer Rattler, Oklahoma’s original starting quarterback, early in the 2021 season. They even began chants of “we want Caleb” at one point. Lincoln Riley gave in and handed the reins over to Williams, who’s played well ever since.
Williams hasn’t had to face a test like Baylor yet, though. And it’s showing. No. 8 Oklahoma is in major trouble.
