Coach Mel Tucker is looking to turn the page after an ugly blowout loss to Ohio State on Saturday. The Buckeyes jumped out to a 49-point lead at halftime and never, ever looked back.
On Sunday, Tucker shared a message to Spartans fans around the country.
We win as a team & we lose as a team. We will identify where the breakdowns were and why. And then we’ll own that, there’s no excuses and there’s no finger pointing. We have to be accountable to ourselves and our teammates and that’s who we are as a team. #KeepChoppin pic.twitter.com/RHJ2In3igk

“We win as a team & we lose as a team,” Tucker said. “We will identify where the breakdowns were and why. And then we’ll own that, there’s no excuses and there’s no finger pointing.”
“We have to be accountable to ourselves and our teammates and that’s who we are as a team,” the coach finished.
The Spartans came into Saturday with a chance to make the College Football Playoff, but those odds evaporated with each C.J. Stroud touchdown pass.
This is an ugly, ugly, ugly performance by Michigan State in a critical game.
Paying $95 million to keep Mel Tucker is still a sound, reasonable decision.
Both of these things can be true. Enough of the dumb contract takes.

The timing couldn’t be worse for the Spartans to have a stinker. Just days before the game, Mel Tucker and Michigan State were reportedly putting the finishing touches on a record-setting 10-year, $95 million deal.
Now Tucker’s team will look to pick up the pieces in their final regular season game against Penn State. Michigan State can still finish the season with 10-wins with a W on Saturday. Quite the turnaround from 2-5 in his first season.
Sparty takes on the Nittany Lions in East Lansing at 3:30 PM ET on ABC.
