People just can’t stop talking about the New England Patriots today as they’ve torn the Cleveland Browns apart at Gillette Stadium. It should be no surprise that one of ESPN’s biggest talkers, Mike Greenberg, can’t stop either.
Taking to Twitter this afternoon, Greenberg praised the Patriots for “making statements” in today’s game. He asserted that they are now “a legit contender in the AFC” with the best coach and a Rookie of the Year at quarterback.
“The #Patriots are making statements today. They are a legit contender in the AFC. Their coach is still the best. And their QB is the rookie of the year,” Greenberg wrote.
Greenberg makes a very strong argument here. The Patriots are poised to rise to 6-4, tying the Buffalo Bills for most wins in the AFC East. They’re only one win behind the Tennessee Titans for the most in the entire conference.

Last year the Patriots went just 7-9 in the first season of the post-Tom Brady era. Even after drafting Mac Jones, many believed that it would be another losing season in New England.
But the Patriots are now poised to match last year’s win total before December – or even Thanksgiving.
They have proven once again that they’re built differently – from the bottom on up.
Is Mike Greenberg right about the New England Patriots? Are they a legit contender in the AFC right now?
