Myles Garrett and the Cleveland Browns went up to Foxboro today with the opportunity to secure an important win in the AFC playoff race.
They left on the wrong end of a 45-7 thrashing. Cleveland scored on its opening drive to take a 7-0 lead and then the Patriots took over and dominated the rest of the way.
It was a disappointing letdown after the Browns blew out their division rivals, the Cincinnati Bengals, 41-16 last Sunday. Star defensive end Myles Garrett succinctly summed up the difference one week in the NFL makes in his postgame press conference.
“Sometimes you’re on top of the hill, sometimes you get your ass kicked,” Garrett said, via Ben Volin of the Boston Globe.

There’s no time for the Browns to feel sorry for themselves either. At 5-5, they likely need to finish 5-2 or better to secure a Wild Card berth.
That makes next week’s game against the 0-8-1 Detroit Lions an absolute must-win. After that contest, the schedule becomes considerably harder for Cleveland.
They finish out the season like this: Ravens, bye week, Ravens again, Raiders, Packers, Steelers, Bengals. Talk about having your work cut out for you.
