The New Orleans Saints just can’t catch a break at the kicker position this season.
The Saints placed kicker Cody Parkey on the injured reserve because of a groin injury on Tuesday, per NFL insider Ian Rapoport.
Believe it or not, Parkey is the Saints’ third kicker this season. He replaced Aldrick Rosas, who replaced Wil Lutz after Lutz landed on the injured reserve.
The Saints will have to sign their fourth kicker of the season following Parkey’s injury.

Cody Parkey apparently suffered his groin injury while going through warmups ahead of Sunday’s Saints-WFT game. He wound up trying to play through the injury and converted three of his five extra-point tries. He also fulfilled his duties as kickoff man, but was replaced by the Saints punter in the fourth quarter.
Saints head coach Sean Payton, meanwhile, is optimistic Lutz will be able to return soon.
The Saints, in the meantime, will have to add an additional kicker.
“Hopefully Wil is close to getting back and I think he is,” Payton said on Monday, via NOLA.com. “In the meantime, we’ll make sure we evaluate each of our options and all of our options. And the good news is we have an additional week to do that.”
No team has gotten hit harder with the injury bug on special teams than the New Orleans Saints. Hopefully Lutz can return soon.
