The Ryder Cup is coming up in September and Paige Spiranac is more than a little concerned about Team USA’s chemistry.
Like so many sports fans, Spiranac watched yesterday’s epic playoff at the BMW Championship between champion Patrick Cantlay and runner-up Bryson DeChambeau. She also noticed the tension between the two competitors during their duel.
As she expressed during her most recent video for PointsBet, Spiranac is worried about how the USA Ryder Cup roster will gel given some of the past and ongoing beefs between golfer who will likely be on the roster.
“The Ryder Cup is coming up and they [Cantlay and DeChambeau] didn’t look like the best of friends during that playoff,” Spiranac said. “So let me get this straight: you’re gonna have Patrick Cantlay [who] hates Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka hates Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks and D.J. [Dustin Johnson] have their thing. If Patrick Reed is on the team then everyone hates Patrick Reed and Patrick Reed hates everyone. What is [team captain] Steve Stricker going to do?”

Spiranac also noted the closeness of the European Ryder Cup squad, which won the 2018 version of the event. Perhaps Stricker is banking on talent winning out and all of his guys putting country over personal rivalries when it comes time to be on the course.
We’ll see if that strategy pays off. The 2021 Ryder Cup will be held from September 24-26 at Whistling Straits in Wisconsin.
