Rajon Rondo seems very pleased to be back on the Los Angeles Lakers, that’s for sure. During an introductory press conference on Tuesday, he actually took a shot at one of his former coaches.
When asked about his down year with the Los Angeles Clippers, Rondo hinted that his production declined because his coaches didn’t believe in him as much as the Lakers’ staff did.
“I don’t think my game’s declined. You’re only as good as your coach believes in you,” Rondo told reporters. “Going forward this year, I understand where I am in my career, but I believe I can still bring a lot to the game.”
We’re not sure if this comment was directed toward Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue, but that’s an interesting quote from the veteran point guard nonetheless.

Rondo fell out of the Clippers’ rotation when it mattered most, which was quite disappointing considering he played a huge role in the Lakers’ championship run in 2020.
Now that he’s back on Frank Vogel’s squad, Rondo should have a bit more confidence on the court.
In addition to throwing shade at his former team on Tuesday afternoon, Rondo also cracked a hilarious joke about Los Angeles’ roster heading into the 2021-22 season.
“I’m most excited about not being the oldest guy on the team anymore,” Rondo said, per ESPN. “…That’s a big step for me going from two months ago. I was the oldest guy on a team. Now, I’m considered one of the young guys.”
It’ll be very interesting to see how Rondo and the Lakers’ cast of veterans plays together next season.
