Before the Washington Commanders hired Dan Quinn as head coach, the fan base expressed concern and angst. Was Quinn just another Ron Rivera? After all, there were some similarities. Rivera was a defensive-minded coach from the NFC South who led his team to the Super Bowl only to be fired a few years later.
The problem wasn’t necessarily that Quinn was the next Rivera but that everyone expected Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson to be the next coach. A few months after his hiring, the narrative among Washington fans regarding Quinn has changed. He’s won over a large portion of the fan base. Players love Quinn. People around the NFL respect Quinn and root for his success.

Quinn has been selective about his next opportunity. He wanted the Washington job.
