Report: Ben Simmons Has A Preferred Trade Destination

September 1, 2021 by The Spun Leave a Comment

Ben Simmons’ days as a member of the Philadelphia 76ers appear limited.

Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer reported on Tuesday that Simmons has had enough of the Sixers and that he’d like to be traded. He’s reportedly even willing to holdout until Philly ships him elsewhere.

“Ben Simmons tells #Sixers brass he no longer wants to be a Sixer and does not intend to report to training camp, according to multiple sources,” Pompey reported via Twitter on Tuesday.

If Simmons doesn’t want to play in Philly, where would he like to end up? It looks like the rising star would like to land in California to play for one of the state’s teams, meaning the Clippers, Lakers, Warriors or Kings, per Pompey’s report.

The Warriors make the most sense for Ben Simmons. The current Sixers forward is a much better ball distributor than he is scorer. He’d be a great fit playing alongside elite shooters like Steph Curry and Klay Thompson.

The Lakers, on the other hand, don’t make any sense for Simmons. They have enough ball handlers and distributors as is. Simmons would be a logjam in the Lakers’ offensive attack. The Kings and Clippers are interesting fits. Sacramento probably makes a bit more sense, but it isn’t the big market like Los Angeles is.

If Simmons is playing for a new team by the start of the 2021-22 season, expect it to be one of the NBA’s California teams.
